چکیده

We present a new estimator for causal effects with panel data that builds on insights behind the widely used difference-in-differences and synthetic control methods. Relative to these methods we find, both theoretically empirically, this “synthetic difference-in-differences” has desirable robustness properties, it performs well in settings where conventional estimators are commonly practice. study asymptotic behavior of when systematic part outcome model includes latent unit factors interacted time factors, conditions consistency normality. Semiparametric Difference-in-Differences Estimators

The difference-in-differences (DID) estimator is one of the most popular tools for applied research in economics to evaluate the effects of public interventions and other treatments of interest on some relevant outcome variables. However, it is well-known that the DID estimator is based on strong identifying assumptions. In particular, the conventional DID estimator requires that, in absence of...

Cellular Heterogeneity: Do Differences Make a Difference?

A central challenge of biology is to understand how individual cells process information and respond to perturbations. Much of our knowledge is based on ensemble measurements. However, cell-to-cell differences are always present to some degree in any cell population, and the ensemble behaviors of a population may not represent the behaviors of any individual cell. Here, we discuss examples of w...
